Koko – The Gorilla with a nipple fetish
The title says it all really, but I’ll give you a brief overview of the story. Koko is a female-rilla born on the 4th of July (no references being made to a Tom Cruise movie here). According to Dr. Francine “Penny” Patterson she is able to understand 1,000 signs based on American Sign Language and approximately 2,000 words of spoken English. Awesome huh? She must have flipped many people off too. Oh and she also has pet cats.
Now, fast forward to a time early in 2005 and we’ll find a sexual harassment lawsuit being leveled against The Gorilla Foundation (which was dropped, the parties involved reached a settlement) but why on earth would some butt-crack be audacious enough to do something like that? Simple, this lesbian loving gorilla (Lesbo-rilla?) developed/was encouraged or maybe was just an innocent bystander to someones strange jungle fantasy involving female gorillas. Apparently three former female employees were pressured into going all topless for this primate and not doing so would result in their jobs being in danger for not “indulging in Koko’s nipple fetish”. Dr. Francine “gorilla-flashing” Patterson was alleged with encouraging such behavior and often interpreted Koko’s signs as a signal for
nipple display aka gratuitous titty shot (which the aforementioned gorilla-flash artist would indulge in as well). I guess I’m suppose to take a hint and believe all of this was being done in the name of science…for the greater good.
It has been said that “Koko’s first words, “eat,” “drink” and “more,” eventually evolved
into a vocabulary of some 1,000 signs, including such abstract concepts
as “love,” “jealous,” and “shame.” They forgot to add the word “horny” and the concept of “bestiality” in there.
