Adium X
Adium X is a terrific, free, multi-protocol instant messenger client, and supports the major transports, such as AIM, MSN, Jabber, Yahoo, and more. The interface is gorgeous, the software “just works”, and it’s highly configurable.

Camino
Camino is a simple, clean, and very stable web browser (based on the same rendering [Gecko] engine as Firefox) – and it was created specifically for the Mac. Although I also adore another browser (listed below), I like to have a few choices in my arsenal of web browsers. I’ve grown to enjoy Camino more and more over the years because of its simplicity, speed, and the excellent community behind the app.

Cyberduck
Cyberduck is an open-source FTP and SFTP (SSH Secure File Transfer) client and browser. Its interface is phenomenal, and is another example of software that “just works”. It also has fantastic text editor integration.

Cyndicate
Cyndicate is a fantastic RSS/Atom feed reader, brought to you by the same dudes who created the awesome PulpFiction RSS reader from back in the day (the original developers; so this is somewhat like a “PulpFiction 2.0/reloaded”.). It has many features found in Apple’s Mail application; Cyndicate’s Smart Folders, Filters, and Labels features are ridiculously handy. The new “Ratings” feature is unbelievable. I tested and evaluated a boat-load of RSS newsreaders, and Cyndicate came out on top in every regard.

ecto
ecto is a weblog editor/client, with a beautiful interface that can allow both word processor-style editing of articles, or raw HTML editing. It supports many types of weblog software, such as Blogger, Blojsom, Drupal, MovableType, Nucleus, TypePad, WordPress, and more. Excellent for offline usage when publishing your articles later.

OmniWeb
OmniWeb is one of the most incredible web browsers I’ve ever used. I am a huge Mozilla/Firefox fanatic (and have donated funds to the Mozilla organization), but OmniWeb is pure, unadulterated, elite Mac software. OmniWeb’s feature set is beyond rich…it’s insane. I am convinced that the Omni Group (the publishers of OmniWeb) sometimes write better software than anyone out there…sometimes even better than Apple themselves.

Unison
Unison is the most unique, beautiful Usenet newsreader I have ever used – hands down. If you are a Usenet geek, get this app. Unison makes Usenet article and file browsing/downloading a breeze.
